New Rear Bar - mutts nuts!

Picked up my new rear bar last night.
MASSIVE thanks to justfishing for fabricating this up for me.
He did all I asked - accommodating original rear lights, and making up replacements for those poxy plastic corner wrap round things. They are now metal and part of the bar.
It's a slightly modified version of Slunnies design (and thanks to Slunnie for original concept!). Hope he likes the mods...

I'm really pleased with the result of the work Ian's done, just not so my painting skills!!
There are a number of small "pits" in it around the welding, but (once we finish building the house) I'll get it off again and repaint after going over it with some decent body filler and get a really smooth finish on it. And that's no negative comment about Ian's work by the way, I'm very appreciative of what he's done. Haven't done it yet due to time, sheer impatience (!) and wanting to get it on asap as the plastic one was due to fall off at the next bump!

I'm still exceptionally pleased with it, it will do the job it's supposed to do, and that's all that really matters to me.

So, here's some build up pics justfishing sent me during the make up stage.....

    Here's some more after painting.
The lettering are stick on plastic items from one of the local car spares shops, that just so happened to look pretty darn close to the original LR font. They should be silver in colour, but decided to sand them down, stick them on, and paint over them while doing the bar.
I think they look pretty trick!

Have also covered part of the body work behind the new bar with heavy duty stick-on neoprene sheeting, to help protect the paint while fitting, and if it should get knocked, and also to prevent any vibration in case its a very tight fit!

I'll follow up with some more pics once I get it fitted to the Disco.....

Wow, looks like a bought one!

The lettering looks tops, glad you didn't leave it silver. Makes it look factory too.

Looking forward to finished pics on car. My next project on mine is a rear bar as well, fair bit of time and planning!

Wow! Just like a bought one.

Isn't it amazing some of the stuff members have done themselves on the forum leave the commercial offerings for dead, and no doubt at a lesser cost. Evident the passion that goes into some of these projects, shame businesses who claim to be LR enthusiasts don't do the same.

Awesome result, having to replace my broken plastic one again, where do I place my order?

    Cheers

As promised, new pictures taken this morning after fitting last night.
    VERY pleased with the results.....
Was looking for a more "original equipment/standard" look, and think that's now been achieved.

Now, has anyone any tips on how to shorten and raise my tailpipe to stop it from dragging, and also to improve aesthetically? It looks very droopy now!
I had thought about just using the angle grinder, but a bit concerned about setting fire (internally) to the rear muffler.

    Hope you like.
But more importantly, hope justfishing likes the final look!
    Thanks again big fella!!

    Cheers,

Exceptional! Looks factory ... that LAND ROVER lettering oversprayed black just makes it! I really like the way it looks just like a std rear D2 bar.

    Taking orders ?
