    Winch Tray

Does anybody have any ideas where to get a winch tray to mount to the chassis rails? OR Has anyone made one themselves?

I would like to mount a winch to my D2a wich has a TJM Type 15 steel bar but nowhere to mount a winch.

I have talked to TJM and they no longer have the part, I have also spoken with rovercraft and they dont know where to get one either.

If i was to make one, or more likely have someone who is good with that type of thing to make one for me.... what kind of specs would i be looking at strength wise.

Any help at all would be great... Thanks

    just bought one

    Hi
Just brought a winch bracket for my 2001 TD5 Discovery from TJM to suit the steel TJM bullbar. The Rockhampton TJM store sourced it for me. $300 delivered. Perhaps its a bit different to the D2A one needed. Had ideas of building one myself but after seeing the factory one I realise it would be very hard without one to copy from.

I rang TJM again and it turns out they have one left. I will get it.

For anyone else who wants a winch mount I spoke to Brittish Offroad on the Sunshine Coast and they can get discreet mounts from the UK for $230.00 + GST. Takes 8-10 weeks.

Slightly OT, but I made the bottom of my TJM winch tray removeable so that the bull-bar didn't have to be removed to remove the winch. Sorry no pics now as I no longer have the vehicle.

Thanks for the idea Graeme. Ill look into doing something like that, will make servicing the winch a lot easier. A lot of people bitch about winches failing but I bet a lot of those people never bothered to service it!!
