Hi all,
My D2a developed M&S lights on start, restart cleared this.
Now the battery (which is new) will go from 14.6v on shutdown, to 10.6v and dropping the next morning.
Runs ok alternator seems to charge correctly, all lights on for 1hr. trip all ok.
I don't know if there is a test for a dicky diode in the alternator, don't want a costly whole new one.
Apart from a dead cell what's a probable cause and remedy?

I wouldn't discount a dud (new) battery yet either, or a wiring/earthing fault, or accessory/light not switching off.
Just thinking out loud here.

Hi Nicky and as above, but does your battery voltage drop below 10.6v or just down to 10.6v.
If it doesn’t drop any further than that, it would sound like you have dropped a cell in the battery.

Stealer said it was a short in the fuse-box, making the ignition live when the key is turned off.
Credible? Which fuse?

It might be the feed side of the fuse where the problem is. If so, removing the fuse will have no effect.

have you checked the water in you batt fair bit of heat in there, had th same prob with my second batt just ran dry an ****d th plates thats why it wouldnt hold charge on u, but will charge fine just not hold it
