Daughter is 6 months old and I am looking at Meridian AHR which has good test results and reports. It is reversible so it can be run backwards up to 18kg and forwards from 9kg.

    Safe n Sound are good.
We offer the largest range of child car seats, strollers/prams, travel systems and nursery products in Australia - BRITAX AU

RTA (registration and licensing in NSW) pamphlet on buying baby seats -
    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety...tockno4305.pdf

    Current laws for restraints -
    Child restraints

At the bottom of that page is the phone number for the RTA to find the closest restraint fitting station to you. Cheap to get them to install and then you know it's done properly.

Google - child restraint fitting stations - for other states.

You can order a hire car with a chiild restraint fitted. You can also hire a taxi with a baby seat fitted - might need to mention it when you book.

Isofix restraints won't work in Australian cars.

We bought 2 Meridian AHR seats for my son, now 14 months old. 1 in the Discovery, 1 in our Ford Escape. Chose it for the 'inner safety cell' made from hard crash foam. You notice it when looking at the others, in a side impact crash (or 4wd ) without this inner cell, the amount their head moves is concerning. Personally, avoid the auto locking catch on the safety strap, doesn't allow enough adjustment.

Quite adjustable, 5 different reclining positions or something like that and most importantly, comes in grey or tan to match the Disco interior
