Exclamation DII TD5 - brake lights constantly on

    hi all,

Just replaced a blown left rear indicator and blow right brake light. Though I noticed that my brake lights (left, middle & right) stay on constantly when the car is turned on and when the car ignition is in the accessories position.

Although this indicates that a fuse hasn't blow I decided to double check. All fuses are fine.

I had a look around on google and it seems now that this problem could point towards the brake light switch fitted on the brake pedal. I haven't checked this out yet. Will try and have a look at the brake light switch tomorrow when it's not raining.

Has anyone come across this problem before? Has it pointed back to the brake light switched or something else electrical?

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

    regards,

    Evan

    Yep Thats sound right...

You will probally ffind the switch is stuck on, it could simply have some dirt stopping it from popping up or it is broken and you will need a new one.

    Have a look

Should be no 12V supplies at the plug, unless its only happening with the tail lights on, then it could be quite likely

Brake switch, probably just needs adjustment, or the thread is screwed as they are a normally closed switch

    From Rave:

"The brake switch is set automatically during fitment.
If the setting is disturbed, the switch can be reset by
depressing the brake pedal and pulling the plunger
out of the switch body, until it contacts the pedal."
