    Question D2 seating cargo area

    Hi All,
i' ve priced up some rear folding seats for the cargo area of the D2 and varies between 2075K for the add2 model or 2435 for the take2 model... this was from a site called retro seating and automotive products, they apparently manufacture these seats themselves. price includes all fittings, anchor points for 2, compliance, 5 yr warranty, gst etc...

    My questions are:

    - is this too pricey for rear seats (they fold up and are forward facing not side ways)

    - has anyone installed (bench type) seats say from other vehicles (forward facing??) and if so, what did they come out of??

    Thanks

    Lp

    Hi LP

Try Bundalene (think that is spelled correctly) on this sight as he is always wrecking D2 and often puts the cargo area seats and panels up on ebay. I am sure they go for less than those you are looking at and your D2 will look genuine.

There is a project tutorial on forum I think as I read someones post on doing the retro fit of the 7 seat Landrover components. Apparently all the D2's have all the bolt points fitted behind the 5 seat interior panel work. In saying that there maybe one bolt hole/sleeve that may not have been tapped with a thread, this will depend on the day it way made or whether the assemblers could be bothered doing it on a 5 seater.

So give Bundalene a private message (PM) he is always too eager to assist.

    All the best.

Nathand - thx for the suggestion. I'll do some research on where some are in VIC (unless someone has the info already :-).

Hitower - thx for the contact, have sent a pm. Just wanted to clarify though that the price included installation so I wouldnt be installing them as it would be covered by their warranty and compliance would be provided also etc.

Not too sure what you meant here "Apparently all the D2's have all the bolt points fitted behind the 5 seat interior panel work. "

I have panniers on the sides and the seat configuration I am after is more the 'bench type seat' that I'd have thought would be bolted to the bottom of the cargo floor??

    Cheers,
    Lp

    Hi LP

What I was meaning about the bolt points is that all the fixings are already incorporated into the bodywork/structure of the D2 for either the 5 or 7 seat configurations. This generally means the interior panels are easily interchangeable between the 2 configurations. As for fitting I am sure there is a forum member near you that would be happy to assist with the fitting in an afternoon.

If on the other hand you are wanting to keep the panniers then the configuration to are looking at will be your only option as the original Landrover rear seats mount and fold into where the panniers are currently.

One other thing I have seen is that the compliance plate on the 5 seater D2s actually show they are complianced for 7 seats. I would assume that is for the original style 7 seats.

As for warranty on an original fitment IMO that wouldn't be necessary as that is what the car was put out with.

All the best on your choice of seating.

    Tony
