Climate control won't make heat. Help needed.

    Hi,
I've got a 2000 td5 Disco and the climate control won't produce warm air. It makes no difference what setting the climate control is set at. I've checked the coolant level and it's where it normally settles itself at which is about 20mm below the mark on the tank. It's the Missus' bus so I don't spend enough time in it to give you a more detailed rundown of the symptoms so any help or advice will be muchly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Anthony.

ive got the opposite to you!
i find i have to go all the way down to 16 from say 26 to get the A/C to kick back in. ive replaced the in dash controll unit, that just made the lights in the unit work again...
im looking into what gives the unit its temp referance.
when the A/C is on its cold, when the heat is on its hot, the auto setting just wont regulate.

    cheers phil

The temp sensor is that little plug on top of the dash. Do you have anything on top of it?

2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

As it happens , my air con was leaking and the local blokes traced it to the the evaporator, ( In the dash ). So I took it to my trusted landrover mech' and amongst other things pulled out the dash to get to the problem.
While your at it, I said, can you check my climate control its not quite right.
Drivers side never really turns off the heat and the passenger side never really turns it on. ( not refering to swmbo )!!
Two days later the dash has been removed and replaced with no air con leak there , but, a number of the levers that control the heat and cool plus direction of said flow were not connected. I can confidently say that it works brilliantly now.
Not sure if the cost of the labour to do this was worth it but I am certainly enjoying real climate control for a change.

The little button top centre of dash is the sunlight sensor which gives a signal to turn the A/C fan speed faster (when on auto) if its sunny !

The inside temp reference comes from a sensor by the drivers right knee behind the console (r/h drive). The air is drawn over the sensor by a small fan which is what you hear humming when the ignition is turned on.

Check the wires to this sensor, might have one come loose.

And failing all the above, consider an air lock in the cooler pips of your heater matrix (?). I understand that the matrix is the highest point (furthest) in the cooling system and is susceptible to air locks if air is getting in the system or is not bleed properly. Unfortunately my head gasket went about eight days after my heater stopped blowing hot air.

You solved a great mystery with this sentence,it was a question(the fan thing) never answered by anybody - thanks
As for the no-heat problem, make sure that hot water circulates on the heater matrix hoses and then check the distribution flaps.

Thanks for the replies. SWMBO says the heater started working again on friday morning and it's still working today. Given that sunday is supposed to be a day of rest and I'm feeling a bit lazy, I reckon that if it ain't broke, I can't fix it but I'll have an idea of where to start looking if or when it plays up again.
    Cheers,
    Anthony.
