I called the dealer Direct today as apposed to going through the mechanic and they will Run a diagnostic for 1/2 hour labour so that sounds fare enough. $60. An $60 to clear the codes after I have fixed it. How do I Cycle the Ignition?
Cheers

Matt,
I can clear the M&S fault by shutting down including locking the vehicle with the fob, then starting the whole process again (unlock, start up etc). From memory, it is critical to put the selector into Park before shutting off the engine otherwise you will confuse the computer and cause faults like this.
I had the fault a few times when I first bought our D2a, around 2003, but had it again for the first time since only last weekend. Was cleared by doing as described above.

Hi Matt,
I had this problem previously. 2001 DiscoIITD5, while driving would occasionally Flash M+S, an drop to limp home mode. Symptom prior was the car felt like it 'missed' a gear change, losing drive momentarily, then resuming. Generally this occurred under acceleration, but also happened at cruise speeds on freeway. (Stopping turning OFF then restarting cleared this, and was able to continue journey)
Dealer ultimately decided it was a transmission problem, and wanted to change it. It was just out of warranty!!!. Landrover Australia agreed to cover the cost of the replacement, transmission but I had to cover the labor charge (near $2k).
Guess what? It happened not once but twice. After 14,000km on the replacement transmission, it started doing the same. They replaced the transmission again!! Costing me another $2k. And guess what?. It started happening again. At the next service I asked them again to check this. They reported they could not find a problem at all, but quite coincidentally replaced the "Accelerator potentiometer", and the problem has never occurred again. I was pretty steamed about this, as you might imagine.
Hi All
A scan with the Snap On scanner told me I had a fault on the Rear Left ABS Sensor and an Air flow metre fault.
I cleaned the ABS sensor connection as it had oil in it from the blown Oil seal on the Hub. Cool ..... the brake light that was constantly on went out. and my ABS now works.
Well I am getting some progress.
retraced the sequence of jobs that I have done and I worked out that the M & S come on after I installed my new Pioneer CD. Sounds great by the way.
But I pulled it out and put the factory one back in. Second cycle through the Locking the door Unlock Start the car cycle the M & S went out BUT I am still in Limp mode. I am getting the auto serviced tomorrow and will pick up a new Air Flow Metre on Monday.
Any ideas on how to get it out of limp mode?
Cheers
Matt
No ... but try disconnecting the battery overnight ... hopefully give you a fresh start.
