    Dan,
I tried to copy the diagram from RAVE showing the ID number position in my last post, but only the words could be copied.

    "Transfer box number
Stamped on the rear of the transfer box casing above
    the bottom cover plate."

All I can add is that it is on the far left side rear about 10mm from the bottom plate of the transfer case, if you're under the car looking to the front.

My model is also 2002 and came with no CDL internals. I ended up having the front output housing case and cdl installed from a range rover TC (not sure which model). Cost me about $700 installed.
I used it in anger for the first time last week end on very greasy tracks. The vehicle is much, much more surefooted with cdl.
    Cheers,
    Alan

You wont buy one from me, buy it from AULRO. see the 'SHOP' link above, or use the link in one of my previous post.

    Centre diff options

G'day everyone . I know there is heaps of info on here about fitting a centre diff lock to a disco but i was un able to find out what is the best (i.e cost effective , strong , reliable , easy) option for my disco 2 that came without any internals.
I was thinking along the lines of putting in a late model TC ,I belive these had diff lock fitted with lever from factory.
Do you think this is a good way to go or is there a better way?
    Thank you! Bill.

    Many here have bought this:
    http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co...&productId=206
GBP v AUD makes it good value to get stuff sent from Britain at the moment. Usually takes about five working days delivery to your door.
Others here maybe able to comment on this, as I haven't dealt with them personally. I have bought other stuff from Britain - all hassle free - just ask for a freight cost before doing the deal.
If you search the net you may be able to find videos of the fitting. I know there is a requirement for checking the shim thickness required when refitting the front output housing to the transfer case. I think that is the only technical part. RAVE explains this.
Search for "CDL install" or such like, and you should be able to find some instruction.
    Good luck.

I am in Perth and was talking to Ashcrofts directly in the U.K. to get the CDL Lever and CDL internal with output housing for a 2002 D2 without internals. Ashcrofts referred me to deal with Rovacraft directly as they were the agent. I placed the order and it was delivered within 3 weeks. Cost was $1700 for both including GST. So not cheap but looks very original once installed....
