Was determined not to pay the greatly inflated price of these offered items from ashcroft etc., so made up one using 3/8" socket extensions & swivel drives as has been posted on here before. The increased cab noise was driving me mad as I do enjoy the trouble Land Rover has gone to, to insulate the D2 cab. Built in 2 soft rubber mounts into the lever action just on top of the transfer case. Didn't help much! but still worked fine.
Still not beaten. In the process of fitting a cable. Uses the hole I made through the floor & centre console for the socket extension system & has a 'T' handel next to the HI Lo lever. The cable has a torturious path but meets with the manufacturer minimum bend radius & operates very smoothly. Made a bracket facing forward from the transfer case out of a bit of 5mmx25mm flat, a few holes & plenty of weld. The cable follows the track of the Hi Lo selector cable. Looks promising, will test drive tomorrow.
