    Will i save fuel

I'm going to put over size tyres on my disco td5(815 O.D.) . I'm wondering if it will use less deisel because it will be reving a bit less or use more due to extra load on the motor? Any one noticed any difference ?

I definitely use more when the 265/75-16 tyres are on compared to the standard. Never measured precisely how much. And yes have accounted for the speedo/odometer impact.

But then my auto uses more than the guys I drive with who have manuals.

Damn! I thought it might save some .

I was thinking this after a road trip to carnarvon from perth in a mates brand new(20km on it at the start of the trip) isuzu dmax. We were towing a 21 foot boat and we were getting better milage in fifth gear , which is very tall in the dmax(2000rpm @100kpm) . compared to forth , which is close to fifth in the disco.Fifht gear was loading the motor to the max.

By the way we did the same trip in the disco a few months ago with the same boat and used about 3.5 litres less per 100 km

Are you calculating from the odometer??? Or corrected figures?

Off the odometer means corrected would be 605km per tank.

    Is your vehicle chipped?

On a trip from Carnarvon to Perth, you'll probably use a little less fuel - it's the stop / start driving around town where you will use more.

I've put larger rolling diameter tyres on mine ('02 Td5 manual) and I use less on trips between Kalgoorlie and Perth, but a bit more around town. Depends a lot on how you drive it.
    Cheers .........

I mainly use it for trips up the coast with a boat in tow . It has a trs chip and erg removed . i personally feel it revs a bit to high at 110kph and it seems to have pleanty of tourque at lower revs.

I have been wanting to do mods but have had no time at all .Now im going on month on month off work i want to get stuck in . 50mm lift and bigger rubber first up.
Any coments on mickey thompson atz LT275/65R18
