show of hands on this fix

gday, so iv been deciding for a while on how to fix my 3 amigos triedthe shuttle valve which is what it comes up as, now looking at taking it apart to rewire the valves externly which is shown on this website, just wanted a show of hands to whether it is worth doing as id have to take it to a mech to bleed the brakes properly,
or the pads are spongy as **** even after bleeding them properly, i could try changing them, thinking maybe its vibration doing it, but they come on randomly even when of the brake, so i dont know , let me kno what you blokes think.

I'd be trying everything else but. Contact cleaner on whatever contacts you can find, including the earths for the system (LHS headlight housing) bleed brakes (not sure you need to take to a mechanic but you certainly need a couple of mates to help to do it properly). I have (had?) intermittent amigoes coming up as left rear sensor and shulltle valve modulator, did the above and so far the land rover gods are pleased with the effort...

OK,, power bleeds can be done by ONE person,,
    and it works.
The 3Amigo rewire is the way to go,
and it DOES NOT stop real faults showing up,, (I've never heard of an actual/real/physical shuttle valve failure?? anyone?)
There are VERY few shuttle valve failure---

I agree with Pedro and Panya,
Do the external re-wire and make a lead with a switch to do the power bleed remotely, single-handed (across the ABS pump relay on RH guard). Haven't had an Amigo for 6 months (until today!)
    cheers,
    Steve

I did the rewire last week, got the cook to bridge the ABS relay while I bled the brakes. Then I got the codes read - shuttle valve and RHF wheel sensor logged as intermittent faults - and cleared. Lights came on again Sunday, only shows RHF sensor code now so I suspect that the rewire fixed the shuttle valve code and now I need a sensor. LR specialist said it can be a computer glitch as well giving random codes. He recommended waiting til lights come on again and if a different code comes up - computer, wheel sensor code again - then replace sensor.

Do you have brake squeal? This can set off 3 amigos..
I had LF sensor coming up and also brake squeal, changed my pads to Bendix and fortunately have not had a fault since over a year now...

How does the brake squeal cause the fault? I had a fault with my 2001 extreme today, when i drove out the driveway the TC light came on, brakes applied etc, did it a few more times, so i pulled the fuse and went to a mechanic. His diagnostic tool said front left wheel sensor fault......... recommended a new sensor at $300 odd!
