    Rear Bumper Trim Clips

During recent trip up the Telegraph Route the wheel slid down the clay bank and the rear bumper LH side remained on the bank popping all the (19) trim clips and the 3 clips on the corner trim.Enquiries for replacement plastic clips came up with $1.20 each for the bumper clips and $4.95 each for the 3 corner trim clips. Any suggestions to a cheaper supplier or an alternative method. One good thing is that if the clips didn't go the bumper would have cracked, but I reckon the clips probably cost about $5.00 a sackful.

Almost cheaper to get a pair of rock sliders in place of the trims.

Have you tried a smash repairer?

Your lucky it's only the clips, mine has the reversing sensors in the bumper as well, and they get pulled out as well, cost around $110 each, from memory.

I use the genuine clips, haven't tried any others.A few self tapper screws help,& a bit of superglue to hold the lights in the bumper,as they love to fall out as well

Last time i badly damaged mine was going south on the Old tele track..

Did almost the same to bumper #1 .... bought a complete 2nd hander and decided to eliminate any possible future issues but trimming off the scoop under each corner.

There is a metal bracket that usually supports this area which I bent out of the way and drilled a hole on each corner where the plastic comes down to the metal body behind the wheels and ran a zip tie through.

Last weekend was up at the Glass House Mtns and bumped a corner... the zip tie broken and the bumper flexed out the way..... not marks or cracks... just replaced the zip tie

Thanks for your advice, my reversing sensor had dropped out and was hanging on the wires, fortunately another driver pointed it out.Good idea to stick them in. I thought of selftappers but in a similar situation the bumper would probably crack. Looks like it will have to be the expensive clips.

You think $1.20 each is expensive? You should never buy a Nissan then!

M6 countersunk bolt, nut and washers for the corner trims over the bumper - way better than the factory setup and they don't break off very much now. For the rear bumper, I cant recall what I did there, but it was probably just cable ties knowing me.
    Cheers
