If planning aTd5 ECU upgrade ...

If planning a Td5 ECU upgrade ... is it advisable to get both the coolant alarm and EGT gauge first?
Do I need both? Would the EGT gauge be enough?
Has anyone bought one of these? ENGINE WATCHDOG TM2, Engine Temperature Sensor and Low Coolant Alarm

    Thanks

    Craig

I have the TM2 for block temp and EGT and use nanocom on instrument mode for coolant temp, surprising how much difference there is between block temp and coolant temp. on a long climb the block temp often gets up to 105 and coolant may only get to 98 on the downhill the coolant will go back to 92 almost straight away but block temp might take another minute or 2 to get back to normal

I would definitely get the EGT.
Install the EGT prior to the upgrade and note your max temps. You will find that most upgrades will provide higher EGTs.
If getting a setup which will monitor both..great.
If you are looking at separate systems, IMO just get the EGT.

My TRS ECU will easily exceed the suggessted 750 on a hill with a load.

PS ensure you have a low coolant sensor no matter what.
    Cheers

Does this mean you 'steal' and distribute other peoples work?

Or that you are a programmer doing it from the goodness of your heart

Are your maps to suit local conditions and fuel quality or do you not know the history of them?

    steal or not to steal...

My friend, I have some maps (6) that I "steal" from my friends car...

The maps are nor protected, so I think I can give...

But ok, you made a good point, i will not distribute these maps

    Cheers

I'm currently looking at getting a Madman EMS before getting my ECU remapped.

Has anyone had any experience with these?

I wouldnt be using maps suited for your region in Australia though... Fuel quality etc has a strong bearing on how maps are created.

Non-protected maps arent necessarily for distribution... Just not locked.

Without knowing the source of the programming, or the code could mean that your mapping is off and could result in engine damage..

Use unknown source maps with caution...

There was a few maps roaming the web that were edited on a Hex editor and very hazardous to the engine!!!

    Caveat Emptor
