Fuel cooler leak

Hi All,
This is my first post, hope I get it right. Here goes.
Over time I've had really good information on this site, there is so much knowledge out there. I drive an '03 td5 disco. Have noticed a coolant leak from the fuel cooler body. It seems to be coming from the join in the end of the cylinder. Having seen the price of a new one I hope this is fixable. Has anybody experienced this problem before. If so, what are your thoughts? They wouldn't build a fuel cooler in unless they were really necessary. Would they?

Easy repair, O ring part number from a source such as BSC bearings or similar, is BS225.

Remove cooler, stick it in a vice and unclip the end cap/s clips. . (Do both). Very carefully prise out the BRITTLE plastic end caps and replace the Orings. Use a little rubber grease to refit and yes, you can reuse the clips but they can be a difficult critter to re-fit.

yep, as per JC instructions, did mine about 2 weeks ago. no probs since. reused old clips.

I have the bazaar problem of mine only leaking after long runs and only when the car is cold, once its up to temp the cooler stops leaking...
I plan to do the O-rings in the next few weeks..

yep, mine was only leaking when it was a really cold night. After a run and it was warmed up, no leaks.
the o-rings were flat across the section when i took them out. so they had done a fair amount of work methinks.

Mine was only leaking at the front seal, I replaced the front O ring with cooler on the vehicle. Ended up using a screw clamp instead of the original clamp though.

The same! found mine leaks when cold,but takes up when hot, I was actually going to do away with it, replumb the water lines and just leave the fuel lines as they are (atm). Has anyone else give this ago? I really cant see what benefit the cooler has anyway?I remember reading a test on fuel temp in some book, the outcome was it made no difference with or without a cooler( hp wise that is).Any ideas guys???? Ross
