    Drivers side rear Airbag troubles!!

    Hi All,
Really need some assistance with an airbag problem.

The drivers side rear airbag looks to have over inflated and wont re level itself. It has pushed the right side up by about 3".

Have tried a few little things to see if it will re level but no joy.

    1. What can I do to fix this problem?
    2. What may be causing it to happen?
    &
    3. What can I do to prevent it for occurring again?

I have a 2 inch lift with SLS and ACE (I think) plus the SLS lift kit (Was on when I bought it)

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated..

    Thanks in advance..

First check that the SLS sensor arm is not loose and the plugs are secure.

You will need someone from here or a dealer with diagnostic equipment to check and possibly recalibrate if you do not have your own equipment.

Going to do a spring conversion!

    Thanks for the info Strangy.

Something I have been thinking about since I bought the disco is doing a spring conversion. I am now thinking that this might be the time. With the wheeling that I do the last thing I want is for the airbags to be giving me problems while out in the middle of no where! ie: over or under inflating, or stacking one of them. Have talked to a few people in the past about doing this and it seems that it is common. I don't tow heavy weights and only really drive it on the weekends or on trips away. Doing the spring conversion couldn't possibly make it drive worse that my old 60 series, could it?

At a price of $90 for the bolt on conversion kit and then the $200ish for the springs I can't see it being a bad way to go. It will get rid of a lot of things that could go wrong.

The only thing I need to know is can the Navcom units (I hope that right) change the ecu settings back to springs from airbags. If so is there anyone near bayswater who would be willing to rest it for me?

    Cheers

One last question. With doing a convesion is there any tricks or problems that I should know about.

It is an easy task and will take about 2 hours easy work by yourself.
You will still have an excellent ride compared to the 60!

But you will need a Nanocom or similar device to tell the SLABS ECU that it is now running coils. (2 minute job)

Have a good read of the Good Oil threads on the SLS before you make a final decision. Many here wouldnt change from SLS while others have the opposite thoughts.

If you change to coils drop me a line. My son wants to change his coils to SLS and needs the sensors, lines etc.

All the best whatever you decide.

    cheers

Good advice from Strangy, read the "Good Oil" thread on this forum before you change to coils. It seems to be a personal choice often based on specific circumstances leading up to it. Many (including me) love the SLS and then but again many (including me) swapped to coils.

    All's Good Again

The Disco is back up and running again.

Spent a few hours this arvo pulling out the air bags and installing the new springs.
Easy job. Not much too it.

Drives like new. Now I just have to get it out onto the dirt and test her out..

Thanks to everyone for there help.

    Both bags are fine.
There was an undiagnosed problem with the rest of the system.
So cheaper, maybe not. ECU could not fault the problem so I would have had to pay someone to go through the lot then fix. $$$$

At the end of the day I actually use use my disco for what it was made for. And the springs are a lot safer for offroad use. No electrics to go wrong. No airbags or other components to have sticks go through. And no pump (which I must say is in a stupid place) to flood when going through deeper water crossings.

So to say that I am silly is just wrong. I prefer to get all that facts before judging some thing or someone.

Thanks to everyone else for there assistance on my problem.

I guess somethings are not for everyone. We can only do what suits our needs.

"At the end of the day I actually use use my disco for what it was made for."

This might make a great bumper sticker

    but its a silly argument.

"I prefer to get all that facts before judging some thing or someone."

    Pot?

To think for a moment people who own cars with airbags dont use their Land Rovers for what "it was made for"
is a pretty big judgement call.

and as for $$, the advantages far out weigh the once every ten years hardware outlay,,

and lets see how long your springs last,,

and to top all that off,,
you do understand what a means?

    yes?
    well heres a few more,,

    you have a great weekend

    Smeacs,
Pedro is just mucking around, "the ol springs v's bags" scenario.
If you swap your air lines around at the compressor end by mistake it will create this exact scenario.
Any way hope it all works out. What poundage spring did you fit?
