    Angry D2 oil leaks ETC

Well, here I go again. The oil leak which has been coming and going on the td5 has come to stay--finally decided to take a few weeks off from work just to take it easy. Going over the car before I go bush oil under the front again, I mistakenly think the little radiator(oil cooler) sandwiched between the others is the intercooler(wrong--auto trans cooler) that is where the leak has come from--the joiner on the passenger side was thought to be the culprit--no again the cooler has a clip of some description on that side but mine was not clipped in so there has been movement there for quite some time hense it has worn through the alloy and progressivly gotten worse. SO don't believe "its a landrover so it must leak oil" By getting underneath the car and removing all the plastic covers I have also found a weep of coolant from the bottom of the water pump. So now I will have plenty to occupy myself over my hols grrr!!!! Has anyone removed and replaced this cooler{radiator) if so could you give me some hints or directions I have been told Iwill have to remove the main radiator and front grill and to get it done by my local mech. 5to 6 hrs @ $100/hr plus parts($400) plus fluid replacement et al. But they are 70ks away and the auto won't last...... HELP

Try looking at Urban panzers site.www.discovery2.uk.I am sure it is...It tell you how to remove the I/Cooler and may give you a idea on what you have in front of you..
I used this when I replaced the radiator and I/cooler on my disco, its a big job, but its step by step and easy to follow..

    Hope it all goes well...

Not all Land Rovers have to leak oil, mine doesn't drop or weep any and it has done a fair bit of kms.

As Ean said, it is a big job, but once you have it out you may be able to find the source of the leak. The clip may not be in place properly, hence the pipe isn't connected and there is no seal so oil will be spewing out.
When you have it out, inspect for any cracks and most importantly any signs of rubbing.

The water pump isn't too hard to remove, but make sure it is not a hose thats the culprit.
