4 new tyres really means ....

Just got the best price for some Pirelli Scorpion ATR's at Kmart Auto but I also needed a rego check done too.

Apparently 4 new tyres really means:

    - 4 new tyres
    - Premium Balancing
    - New front pads
    - New front discs
    - 4 new shocks
    - 1 new battery
    - Need to search for source of leaks from engine and transmission.

    How do you trust 'em?

Hi We sent the girlfriends sons car to a simular style store for a dead alternator due to it being the only one open over Xmas and also as we were away on holidays and I wasn't there to fix it. (Large Tyre outlet that also does Mechanical repairs)

We were told all 4 tyres needed replacing, shocks were buggered, wheel align required, disc pads worn out and oil leaks needed attention.

Tyres did another 8 months with no uneven wear, no evidence of oil leaks and the shocks are still doing the job just fine and I replaced the pads 6 months later!

They depend on drivers with little or no mechanical knowledge to keep them running. They did the altenator at at least 50% more than we would normally have paid and the sump gard fell of 2 days later??

Unfortunately ... I had 1 day before rego! So I guess he thought he had my number, "you need this fixed, and this, and this and also this to get it passed for rego"

I said ... "it's a Land Rover, it's supposed to leak engine oil!"

anyway ... after a little begging, he passed it.

Gotta say, I will NEVER be back to them for ANYTHING !!!!!

The real problem is the vehicle. If your tyres are worn out, just replace the vehicle. You spend a little extra, but it fixes all problems associated with your present vehicle.
And a new vehicle will have none of the problems that a vehicle with worn tyres has.
Pehaps you could take it to Peddars for a second quote

Paid $225 per tyre plus balancing.

They feel very different to the MTC's. Time will tell.
