Its probably one of your shock mounts or shock, Watts link bushes or ( buggered uni joints) do you have a rotor joint ? Air bags ?,
Lower speeds seem to bring the worst out in bushes
About 2 months ago I fitted bigger tyres onto my 01 TD5 Auto (BFG AT 265/75R16). The following weekend took it for a drive up to the highcountry for some 4WD'ing. Later on in the day i noticed a clanking sound from what sounds to be the rear left area of the car. It mainly seems to happen when off road, only occasionally on road. It will go through bursts where it will happen quite frequently, then periods were there is no sound at all. It does not hinder the driving of the vehicle in any way (that I know of). It seems to happen at low speeds (below 40kph).
Any help would be kindly appreciated. And if you would like me to explain anything in further detail, please ask.
Thanks,
Michael

Do you have a suspension lift?
It maybe that you need longer shocks, and the ones you have are topping out.
