    Thumbs down Bugger!

I recently described some symptoms that my TD5 was giving with the cooling system.
Following the advice & information in the well appreciated answers, I have now determined it is a head gasket issue.
At least it's better here now, than along Goog's Track in October with the camper trailer on the back!
    Thanks again for the help.

That is the good thing about AULRO, I was quite sure that it was air locking. Thankfully you put me on the right track by advising of the hard top hose.

I feel your pain. I too had initial cooling issues, which after process of elimination, hard top hoses, bubbling in the expansion tank etc, had to be a head gasket. Or,....head itself.

Best thing I did was finall bite the bullet, purchase the parts from UK as cheaper, (even with freight), and got the job done.

Initial impressions were that the gasket was ok upon removal, but well worth the extra $$ to get the head stripped, pressure tested, and x-rayed.

Now all good. Sure it cost 2.5k plus parts, but better that 3.5-4k for a new head etc.

    cheers
    Nick
