Well, I have just completed the most painful corrective maintenance job so far on my 2004 D2a TD5. I pulled the sump off to check the oil pump bolt. It was not loose but not tight either (undid with a 1/4 drive ratchet) with no sign of loctite. So cleaned out hole and bolt with primer, loctited thread (262) and tightened up the bolt till the engine started to turn over. Could not get a torque wrench in there to get it to 25Nm.
The biggest pain was the return pipe of the rotor filter. Getting thoes underside bolts in took me 3hrs. Had to remove because the sump has studs instead of bolts!!! Hopefully no issues with oil pump sproket coming off in the future.
Anyhow, i took off the forward most crossmember and the lazy buggers neglected to paint the mating surfaces and there was rust. Cleaned it up a wire brush and sprayed with cold gal. Same for the one over the transfer. FYI.
Regards
Robbo.
