Fantastic looking D2 George - are they the original 7" alloys coated in black?
    What tyres are these?
    cheers,

Hey Deano, the wheels are 16x8 Factory Alloys from a P38 RR painted satin black with BFG KM2's, BFG's new muddy design. I very happy with this tyre

    Great looking rig

    Hi George

Just wondering were you got the lift done and weather you needed to extend the brake lines and ABS sencers with the 3 inc lift

How high is the rig to the top of the roof with the lift do you have any trobles getting into car parks

I look to do the same to mine over christmas with the same tyres

What sort of money did it cost for the lift and how much are 285 75 in the bf's

    regards Skellz

Ok guys, i've done a bit more homework on this - another way to go i think i've found.
BF Goodrich makes thier newish KM2 mud terrain in a 255/85/16 which is a shade over 33" but keeping a nearer standard width over the original 235.
I've seen one and it looks very tough but withour the width that seems to compromise the disco a bit.
It also means i can keep the original 7" alloys legally and run 33's.
Not sure what you guys think but i'm going to give them a run.
The other issue is that the 255 may even comply with the regs given they are only 20mm wider than standard? Not sure about this but i reckon its got to be easier to get away with a 255 over a 285 if on the side of the road with an over zealous law man at the window - hmmm.
    cheers,
    Deano

ps - even after a 2" lift on 245/75/16 the carparks are out of the equation i'm afraid. That is with roof bars fitted of course.

@ Bluedisco2 - I thought about the 255's for a very long time and for mine they are just too thin. Fair enough you can use them on the 7" rims but generally the larger wheel suits the D2 IMHO better.

@ Skells - Regarding the lift. It's a Rovertym Engineering 3" lift from the states and actually gives approx 4"+ of lift. Match this with the 33's and there are not many carparks that'll have me right now I installed the lift myself over a few days and then some. It runs Fox 10" remote reservoir shocks custom valved, extended brake and abs lines modified watts link and cranked radius arms just to name some of the mods. Also it was alot of muckng around to get it sorted and i'd hate to think what a 4wd shop would've charged me for labour. I will post a detailed summary of my truck in the show us your D2 shortly.

Keeping this topic on track the 285's rub a little on the radius arms at full lock with factory alloys, but can still tuck into the arches easily due to standard offsets. I tried this size tyre with Slunnie on my car with a 2" lift a couple of years ago and it didn't quite sit right, where as the 265/75 was a much better fit and a tyre i ran for at least 5yrs with no dramas. You may also consider changing out the diff gears to 4.11's to compensate for the increased diametre.

    Cheers

    Thanks George all understood.
With the diff gears i was thinking that seeing as i'm removing the transfer case to install reduction gearing to the low range side - 33% straight cut gear setup - i may as well change the high range over to the Defender 1.4 gear set in lieu of the Disco 1'2 gear set - seems it would be an easier fix i reckon - need to do my sums first though.
    cheers,

    Hey mate,

I run the 285/75r16s in Silverstone MT-117 Sports on 16x7 rims with +30 offset and 2 inch HD lovell coil lift.

It does rub a bit at full flex on the inside of the rear wheel arches and inside the front somewhere on the plastic... it's nothing drastic though and it hasn't had any adverse effect on my tyres or car, im considering trimming the inside of the rear quarters for peace of mind but otherwise the front is fine. This rubbing only came about on the +30 offset rims though, when I ran the 33s on the standard alloys I don't think I got any rubbing at all, only on the radius arms at full lock, but it's easily avoided.

As for rim width. I have heard a heap of different opinions about this. I was originally going to run 8 inch wide rims but Dynamic stopped making them due to lack of demand just before I bought them. When I asked the tyre shop guy he told me that it was legal and fine to run 7 inch rims, along with alot of different people I spoke to.

I would really like to go up to a 3 inch super flexy lift, this will probably sort out the slight rubbing problems... but $$ don't permit at the moment haha.

    A few pics...

    On standard alloys...

Hey Shamo - great looking truck - very impressed! I know its all the eye of the beholder but a tough D2 looks the bix i reckon.
Do you still run standard gearing and if so how far out is the speedo?
Does it adversly affect the low range which is allready too high i reckon.
What about cv's, diffs and axles - all standard? if so any dramas yet?
    cheers and thanks,
    Deano

    Hey mate,

All standard drive train with no issues yet.... Touch wood... haha

I run a rear ARB air locker too, so it would probably be putting more strain on things as well... the speedo is out but alteast 10 percent. The low range is higher i must admit, but you can only really notice when you are going down hills (have to use a bit of break isntead of just engine braking), has no trouble getting up the hills.

    Nice disco as well!

Vids here of how it goes anyway....

    BFG M/T KM2s on D2

Hi all - sorry to rehash old territory but was wondering if anyone has successfully fitted the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2s to the D2 factory 18" alloys?? They look like one of the only muddies available in 18", they come in a 305/60/18 which equates to approx 32.4" overall diameter..... when doing the sums it does appear they will fit (my disco2 has a 2" lift and an ARB winch bar) but would love to hear some input from others on this. Are there any other 18" mud terrain or aggressive all terrain options???
