I checked with local rego office....as I am interested in lifting my 02 D2. There are some requirements and regulations regarding D2's -

Coil spring D2 non SLS -
Unless it wasn't quote " A Wild" unquote lift needing engineers certification and reassessment for roadworthy - then OK to rego although they advised to check with insurance compliance

SLS - illegal as this required modification to key suspension components resulting in changes to vehicle handling characteristics (Hey I don't write the rules I just obey them )

Regarding SRS....rang my LR workshop and they advised that regarding road worthiness, suspension modifications will not affect SRS unless for competition purposes....

It is the fitment of non-compliant bullbars that will make your D2 illegal if you fit a bar that is not compatible with an air-bagged (SRS) vehicle

I think there may be some confusion with the 2 acronyms OK, TTFN

    Correct
The SRS electronics are designed to precisely release the airbag at the correct time.Lifting the body changes the measurements in the mathmatics the ECU is using.
There are some pretty good suspension lift/tyre lifts for the D2.I know of 2 workshops in WA that are looking at getting theirs engineered.

Ahhhhhhhh....If I recall from my workshop days - Supplementary Restraint Systems located within your steering wheel and passenger console are activated and then deployed by a crash sensor, an accelerometer and the completion of an electrical circuit within the diagnostic module.....not exactly the engine control unit (ECU).

Most diagnostic modules are located within the passenger area so they are 'shielded' from eroneous electrics/frequencies/current.

The 'air-bag' itself is activated by a pyrotechnic.......

Are we sure that we aren't thinking or confusing air-bags with air suspension 'bags'

Even if you lifted the vehicle a metre...if you hit a tree at a speed fast enough, the SRS will still activate within milliseconds as it's the accelerometers and diagnostic module that do the math - not the ECU

BigJon nailed it below...SRS and SLS are two very different bits of equipment

Your SLS isn't connected to the body, how can a body lift affect it???
Your raising the body off the chassis?????

If you do it can I come around and give you a hand?
Would the LRA D1 body lift kit work on the D2?

There is a d2 running 37,s and a 2" body lift legally, he pulled the sls out to get it passed. I will dig up the magazine issue (Auz 4x4). Apparently all above board.
