    Bush keeps coming out

I have had the bush fall out of the front drivers side shock, lower mount twice! The first time they replaced the shock as it had done less than 10,000 kms since install. It happened again last weekend after doing some tracks with good articulation, bush squeezed out behind the shock mount and the local garage was able to put it back in. I have only done another 10,000 kms and it was the same shock and same lower mount as before.... Taking it back to the installers next Thursday for them to have a look...

Anyone else had a similar problem? Do you think it would have something to do with the geometry of the suspension? Seems weird that all else is ok however this shock and mount are having a problem...

    Manufacturer is EFS.

How big is the lift? Might be the brand, its difficult to tell sometimes. My sons D2 had the same issue with a Lovells. He has OME now and no issues. I have the Lovells and no issues.

It's to do with the lift, what happens is when you lift the car it rotates the diff housing towards the front, so the front shock mount bolt hole will be further away, what you need to do is put a spacer under the front mount to keep the shock mount level with the bottom mounting bracket.

Have a look at it you will see what I mean, mount the rear bolt only and you will see the gap between shock pin and the mounting bracket.

It has happened to me, I stopped it by spacing the front bolt mount.

    Ahhhhh ............ it's a suspension thing.

From the thread title, I thought it was something about George Dubya making frank admissions.
    Cheers .........

It may also be that the bush is a bit soft. Have you got poly or rubber bushes??
I have EFS on my shortlist for shocks so keen to follow any issues.

    Cheers

    Hi Andrew,
I m pretty sure the EFS come with rubber bushes, I will let you know the outcome after I have seen West Coast Suspension on Thursday!

    Hi Baz,

Any chance of a photo to show how you spaced out the shock? It would help me a heap! Aaron...

Mine has a 4" lift, so the gap is probably a bit larger, I'd reckon your gap shouldn't anymore than 2 or 3mm, I just used washers, the strange thing is that it should not do it with a 40mm lift, mine didn't until I went to 4", I'd say the EFS shocks probably run a softer bush, and it probably isn't bonded to the eye hard enough.

I'll see what I can do about a pic, I'll be under the car tomorrow fitting new trailing arms.

Do you have ACE on your D2????
If so you may want to give the EFS a miss and get something slightly softer.I have EFS gear, its a tad harder riding but I prefer that to marshmallow handling.
