    Help with D2 fault 96

Hey all can anyone help me with an on going fault in my 03 D2, I had the codes read and on a Snap-on scan tool it comes up with code 96 "Road speed missing fault".
I have looked and looked on the net but haven't been able to find any info on this fault or what to do to rectify it.
I had it cleared and it stayed that way for maybe a day then it is back everytime you start the car "ding ding". It obviously is not in the ABS or engine computers as niether warning lights are on.
I am starting to wonder if it is affecting the auto as every time I back out the gararge and put it in drive it acts like a manual and stalls or takes off like you've dropped the clutch, also nearly stalls at intersection which is painful not to mension taxing on brakes.

Any help, ideas, links greatly apprieciated.

I don't think the Snap-on tool reads the SLABS unit for the ABS.

The code should be associated with an ABS unit fault as well.

Road speed missing also occurs in the engine ECU as well as the SLABs ECU.
Its a common one, normally listed as intermittent and logged.
I doubt its causing any auto trans issue.

Thanks Andrew, If it is a common fault it should be easy to fix, can you tell me how?

Common fault doesnt mean easy fix!!!!
Most likely an earth fault causes it.
The ECU reads 5 road speeds from memory of reading the RAVE CD.The 4 wheel sensors and the transfercase.
Your DING DING without any warning lights is interesting,is it a seatbelt warning???

The ding ding could be the CDL partially engaged or HDC fault (ABS related).

The pretty sure sound will be generated by the BCU. The seat belts can also do this if you haven't buckled up before turning the key, but the sounder is usually disabled and only the light comes on.

    Is it a Td5 or V8?

G'day my car is a TD5 and I'm pretty sure it's not the seatbelt chime because if I reset the fault it goes away.
The fault is not in the abs computer as I bought an ABSamigo to fix the 3 amigos and that side of things is fault free.
Thanks for the input I will get to the bottom of it.... one day.

    Regards, Adrian

Thanks Andrew, Where can I get a copy of the RAVE CD as I down loaded one from the states and there's nothing in the electrical libary, then I found one at the Green Oval site but it wanted to create a vitual disc drive in "H" where I already have my removable hard drive!!

When I got my Nanocom, and Nanocom'd the engine (Td5) I got a "Road Speed Missing" fault ... cleared it, has never returned ? That was nearly 1.5 years ago.

The ding ding ding on startup is normal. Mines does it 3 times (99% of the time) after starting .... No faults logged in the Td5 ECU ... for the last 1.5yrs.
