Maxxis At-700 or MT-762??
Hi all,
hopefully my last tyre post for a few years.
I was looking at AT 751 and MT753 in Maxxis 245/75 R16's. I had a contact to get a bit of a discount and just had word no stock available in Adelaide till October.
But i am doing a trip to Uluru/Kings Canyon/Oodnadatta track late september, and i cant do on existing Cooper ATR's (which have done about 70,000kms). These need replacing befor the trip.
I can get (through my contact):
AT 700 for about $250 each -but these look like a very highway oriented pattern, and i'd be a little nervous about their off road.
MT 762 for about $295 each - love the off road capability of these but worried about the (a) noise on road and (b) wear rate.
having said that, my guy says AT better on road and mileage, but 762 is tough in all conditions and not too noisy on road. I'm not worried about the cost difference ( i need 6 of whichever i choose).
Both available at present, but stocks may deplete quickly like the 751 and 753.
Opinions please?????????

Fit the Bighorns or get BFG muds. AT's are a complete waist of money.

Mate - have a look at this thread for the AT-751 for people who have used them (ie people who can comment on that 751).
Cheers
PS. The other AT series in the Maxxis are too road oriented in my opinion. The 751 are very like the XPC's which were a classy tyre cause they were much better off road than they looked. The LT has a massive load rating and great towing ability in the AT too.
PPS. Sorry mate - just read your thread again properly this time. Mate I would go the bighorn if you cant get the 751

Well i decided to go with the 762 Bighorns, they seem like the best choice given that i can't get the 751's. Seems like from the sublime to the ridiculous i guess.
They are being fitted next Monday !!! Can't wait.
Now onto the rest of the things which need to be done before we go away.............
