    auxillary battery tray

    Hi all,

was speaking to a battery/electrical specialist yesterday and he mentioned that he thought Land Rover do an auxillary battery tray for under the bonnet of a D2.

    Anyone know anything about this????

I know ARB make one that drops straight in, not sure about the LR one though. The ARB bolts up against the firewall on the passenger side.

    Cheers

    Paul,

I believe the ARB tray goes in the passenger side rear corner of the engine bay.

If you are after a side by side battery setup refer to my thread below.

Photos of the ARB tray attached. It only fits if you don't have rear airconditioning fitted. Costs about $70IMG_0596(1).JPG

I must admit I only knew about the ARB and Piranha trays, never heard of a Land Rover manufactured tray.

Agreed, I have managed to fit an ARB battery tray into my D2 with rear A/C, however I don't know about there being two models (with and without rear a/c),there was only one model when I bought mine (Dec 09).

    cheers anthony.

Hello, first post, hope I'm doing it right....

I have documentation from Piranha advising of two trays, part No. BTTD5 for no rear A/C and BTTD5AC for rear A/C. I was quite keen to pursue this a while ago, but got put off by the salesman who snootily pointed out the "Not suitable for Self Fit" comment at the bottom of the page. Also they seemed very expensive, way more than the $70 mentioned.

Can anyone advise, are the Pirahna units easy to install, do you need any special tools?

I looked at the Piranha trays for mine, but very pricey compared to the ARB.....

Bought the ARB in the end (thanks to neal overthere) and must say it fits very very well.
