batteries
i was just looking at the Devon 4x4 site in the uk, and in their vehicle showcase they showed a disco 2 running a Genesis dual battery management. The part that caught my eye was that they used 2 Oddesey PC1200 batteries mounted in the original battery location. When i looked these batteries up, they seem to be only 44a/h, which seems low. I like the idea of 2 batteries in the original location though. The car seemed to run the normal range of accessories -fridge, lights, etc.
Here is the link if you are interested:

Any thoughts about this battery setup? I wonder if the lack of heat/dust etc makes this ok in the UK but would it work here in AUS? And what about the low A/h rating of these batteries for cranking and auxillary applications?
So many questions
Cheers
Paul

Ignore the A/H rating, that has no affect on cranking over an engine, its the CCA (cold cranking amps) value that is important and should only ever be what your interested in when choosing a starter battery
My optima's are only 55A/H but crank my TD5 over better than the factory 110 A/H battery ever did.
The A/H rating really only comes into it when running loads over a long time with the engine off in a AUX batt situation, most of the time its probably 1 night with the loads running in which case even a 44 A/h battery is probably more than enough to run a fridge and a few lights for several hours.
