Unhappy Three (3) Amigos parts, sensor prices?

    Hi there all.
My car is coming up for rego test soon and I have been told that it wont pass if the abs is not functioning properly, 3 amegios coming on all the time intermittently...........................so......
I need to replace the abs sensors to the front and rear brakes of my discovery TD5 year 2000.
My mechanic made some enquires and found that there are "2 in Melbourne" and "2 in the UK" and that the price is $395 each? Wow is all I can say. shocked even.
Are these rip off prices or what?

    G'day Mildred.
Take a deep breath, grab your fav bevvie and search "three amigos" on this site. Then all will be revieled. Maybe the ABS sensors just need a good clean?
    Regards
    Robbo.

If you are planning to replace all four sensors, I would think again.
Get a second opinion from a specialist landrover mechanic at least.
The chances of all four sensors being u/s are pretty slim I would have thought.
The price seems a bit steep too, but I've never had to buy one (touch wood).
As Robbo instructed below search for the forum for "3 amigoes". I'm sure there is tutorial here somewhere that has a step by step diagnosis.
    Probably in the good oil.
    Good luck

    Hi Mildred
Has anybody but their Nanocom on your Disco(asuming its TD5)????
It will tell you wich sensor is the issue. If you are getting faults on all 4 sensors I would replace the brake pads first with a reccomended type, the wrong pads CAN cause a vibration that interferes with the sensor and causes a fault register.
Contact member Bundalene,Erich wrecks D2s and should be able to sort some good secondhand sensors if you need them. The new type need to be re cables to the SLABS ECU!!!!! Those prices you mentiond are expensive,I bought a new pair off ebay a while back for $80,I was lucky I suppose.
    GOODLUCK

    jack one wheel up, (just--)
start car , put car in gear,(no it wont drive off)
    does the speedo register?????

The d2 takes an average of the 4 wheel sensors

if nothing, THATS your sensor(or sensor/ABS connection)

I REALLY doubt all 4 sensors would go at once,,

Paddocks is well known operator, and a lot of guys get parts from there. There are other worthwhile sites that I have found to be very price competetive, or at least worth a look to confirm pricing. LR Series is one for example (34.99). The best option I've found is to throw the part number into google and see what crops up.

    cheers
