Last year did a trip to Cape York in my Dads Defender, fully worked machine, that tracks heading up to the cape at that time were so bad that brand new radiator lines were rubbing through other lines that wernt even near each other at stand still, new exhaust system cracked through, globes in head lights and blinkers etc, BROKE!!, we did alot of night driving and the saving grace was 1 HID spot light that held on. We drowned the Defender in one of the creek crossings, with the engine running under water for about 15mins as we were trying to get the winch running to winch our selves out....( never really had to use the thing) the water was up half way up the speedo in the defender... (we were on our own after over taking everyone that couldnt make one of the crossings "CHICKENS" :D). Lost all the computers cameras, full sounds system, inverters etc..... $$$$ the defender had only a few electrical issuse with the relays after that. replaced oils in diffs, transfer, and gear box. Surprisingly they had no water in them... but everything else was running perfect. this trip really pushed the defender to its limits and im a bit worried that a D2 would not stand up to that much punishment.
How i would like to set up My D2 is for the WOREST POSSIBLE SENARIO!
I had done a fair bit of trips around Australia but never in a D2. and i know how punishing some of the corrugation can be and the lengths are over whelming .
will be looking at the radiator hoses as i havent read any where about ppl having problems with it thanks!
Thanks for all of the advice so far
