My Mantec faces rearwards, it cannot be rotated, so no "ram effect" (if that exists) but I notice no difference in performance at all.............the air filters on the other hand even over here stay cleaner, longer and as far as wading goes your a fool to do it without one imo................oh and they look cool aswell :DQuote:

depending on how far north you are travelling--my advice is --put one on considering the pickup being in the wheel arch where if there is going to be a little dust you will pick it up. Travelling only 35k on dirt roads out from Mt Surprise my air box and filter were full of dust. Also reported on this site [cairns boy] lost the inner plastic guard driving at Fraser Is totaled the engine --landy a writeoff--saw it myself in the workshop in Cairns. I think Graeme used one of these when we drove Hay River. From what I recall the Donaldson pulled a heap of dust out. Further research showed the new donaldsons also self clean the bowl by spinning the dust completely out.Quote:

The new Top Spins might be a better bet, but I'd check with Donaldson first.
This is where something like a Unifilter droopy might be better, it's just a pain to clean every day.
and as 87 County suggested, setting up an airbox without CFD and a lot of testing is a black art.
I was involved in some airbox testing nearly twenty years ago with a Magnahelic gauge (we expected the driver to read the thing taped inside the cockpit while driving around Amaroo :lol2:) and it was inconclusive.
We did experience a small increase in static air pressure but whether it was worth the drag of the bigger air box.....
I think we picked up more with redirecting the air inside the airbox with a change in air filter design and new bellmouths.
