    Talking Dicso 2 Power Loss

    Hey Everyone,

I have a 2004 td5 Disco and it's developed a slightly weird issue. Under any form of load such as accelerating rapidly, or a hill, the engine acts like the rev limit is dropping to about 2500 rpm and the car kangaroos untill you back off the throttle... It's just had the 120,000km service done, including the auto transmission. Sadly, it's still doing it. Transmission is reported as 'in perfect condition' as is engine and turbo... In neutral it'll rev up fine to 5600rpm with no smoke so it doesn't appear to be mechanical. The best guess i've heard from my mechanic so far is some form of sensor malfunctioning but finding it is proving to be a pain.

Has anyone had this issue before and has an idea as to what could be causing it?

    Cheers!

    Welcome aboard Naffle.
Sounds to me like its overboost.
The ECU will cut fuel whilst overboost is sensed.
First check,Boost Modulator and its hoses.
Look at the turbo, find the wastgate. It is operated via a rubber bose,is it connected??? If it is track it down to the boost modulator,is it secure that end????? There is another rubber hose that connects the modulator to the intake of the intercooler, secure there????
If these pipes are secure, you need to get a member with a Nanocom to read the faults and check boost pressure under load.If the accuator rod on the wastegate is over adjusted it will produse overboost.

    Gday Naffle86,

    Welcome to the forum mate.
Check out the section called the "Good Oil", it has a wealth of information.
It may be a sticking/stuffed wastegate
Injectors knackered or on the way out
    MAF knackered
Fuel pump on the way out

Do a "search" on Td5 power loss and see if any of the posts sounds similar.

I think it may be the wastegate sticking and overboost/EGR issue.

Don't you hate it when you think "if only I hadn't put it in for a service..."

I had the same problem a while back . Turned out to be a vac hose leak on the turbo modulator. As stated above check all the vac hoses conected to the turbo . It could be a simple quick fix.
