Starter Motor ,First Post, Be Kind
I want to inspect, clean, change solenoid contacts on TD5 D2. Is there an easy way to remove the top 15mm nut of the starter motor. Not much room to swing a cat. Any help will be appreciated

A 15mm socket and a 150mm extension bar from a 3/8 drive socket set and maybe a small 'cheeter bar' operated from underneath - worked for me.
BTW, the other two nuts are a different size - 13mm ....................... I think.
Use of the Search function will reveal a heap of stuff on D2 Starter repairs.
While you're doing your starter motor, have a good look at the front driveshaft - the non greasable double cardan joints are renowned for collapsing.
Oh ..... and welcome to the forum

starter motor all but off
Hi all
Went to start the 99 D2 td5 and a strange sound from the starter motor,
Got under to have a look-see and it’s all but fallen off.
I don’t know how it’s held on two bolts at the bottom (one still there)
At the top it looks like it could have studs maybe two? and nuts.
A) how do I get top nuts in, are there one or two.
what size are these nuts do they need washers & spring washers.
C) what size bolt at the bottom I could take the one that’s left out but if you know.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation
