    TC oil

I've read the info on what type of oil to use in my D2 Transfer Case and have written down so i can see what's available where i usually get my oils & parts etc. I can't find my rave cd so i need to find out, exactly how much oil does the case hold so i can measure both the drained, old oil & the new replacement?
Also, any advise for doing the job would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Mat

    Refill - 2 litres
Fill from dry - 2.3 litres

To fill, I used a plastic coke bottle with the top drilled to press fit a 3/8" tube. Got under the car, placed the tube in the filler hole and squeezed.
Not very scientific, but it worked. Just don't squeeze too hard.
I'd like to find a nice cheap low pressure pump like Urban Panzer's but no luck so far.

Go down to your local Repco/autobarn/Supercheap and pick yourself up a Tom Thumb utility pump. Comes with a 1 litre measured bottle, a hand pump and a plastic tube with an aluminium elbow on it. Just fill with your desired oil and pump away. Works very well. I use Castrol SynTrax 75W90 in my case and it has the larger volume finned sump fitted.

    Cheap oil "pump"

    Guys,

I filled up my auto recently by drilling a small hole (about 1 mm) into the lid of the ATF container and putting a football filler fitting into this hole . I removed the small filling tube - the one about 8 to 10 cm long and put the end of 1m of plastic tube into the container via this hole - a nice snug fit. Put a compressor onto the filler fitting and turn the compressor on to fill up whatever is required under the vehicle. The oil container is on the floor, you can see what is going in and on. To stop the flow, take the ball fitting out. no air = no pressure so no flow.

No need for pumps and the mess etc for refilling them - just use what you have already in the form of the oil container plus some plastic tube and your air compressor.

Well, I do know as im sure most of the landy drivers do that after a good long journey on road, or work out offroad you can "feel" the heat from the tunnel area and the transfer box is a big part of it. So "imo" anything that adds more oil capacity to "absorb" the heat and has the ability to help cool it aswell MUST be a good thing!!.

Im easily sold on "nice" products tho

    @Disco thrasher

Got mine at a landy show, but Ashcrofts sell them.......

    www.roverdrives.com is the manufacturer.

Both Africaland and Rocky Mountain LT230 extended sumps are discussed in this thread, along with $ and Oz suppliers on the last page.
