    My first LR

    Hi all, newbie here!
Just got myself a 02 discovery td5, with 2" ome suspension and 265/75 tires and I love it!

After a Sorento and a Cherokee, this is the one!

I'm familiar with fourbies but not disco's. Just wanted to find out a few things from you good people.
I was shocked to find out my drivers seat had no height or angle adjustment, I would love to have it a little lower. What do people do about this?
Also my rig has a L or H only lever for low range gears. I'm guessing I don't have the centre diff locking thingy. why would I need this when I've got Traction Control. what am I missing out on that I don't have a locking centre?

Sorry if the questions a stupid but please go easy. again, I'm a newbie

    thanks

with those mods ( and model year)its surprising you dont have a locking CDL of some kind.

    TC is good
    TC and CDL is GREAT!

    Hey welcome
If i can remember the 02 model does not have cdl ,which is unfortunate but not the end of the world but is a great advantage to have you can get the internal of TC added/changed to get it but can be quite expensive ,or you could just look for a 2nd hand LT230 with the cdl in already swap them and sell your old TC recouping a large portion of the money you spent on the new TC
    cheers Kelvin

I always thought the D2 was fitted with a CDL but the actuator was never fitted due to the traction control.

the CDL should be still there though, im pretty sure you can just add a mod, and when I say mod I mean a metal bar with a socket welded to it and in the right sopt you have a centre diff too.

Do a thread search for D2 CDL, im sure you'll find the info you need.

It is hard to tell by year alone if it will have the internals or not. I have an 01 that had no internals . You are better off looking at the number on the tc or have a feel for the nut on top.

    Talking My first LR

My 02 TD5 does not have the CDR, so far it has been quite a few places up here[FNQ] on the nth gem fields west of Mt Surprise in the mud around Malanda, beaches in nth NSW so far no need for the cdr.To me it is a great 4/4, a few inherant problems : aircon drains onto auto switch gear[re route the drains]three amigoes [plenty of advice here]other than these probs all the same for other off road vehicles. Enjoy the quality...
