    D2 Grill removal.

I had look under the top fan shroud to see if the clutch fan was working OK after the overheating on Saturday. It was spinning slower than the engine while idling and turned freely with the motor off, so seems to be working.

So the next thing was to check for bug build up.

My question is, how does the grill come out without tearing apart the whole front end, the little moustache things under the lights seemed to be holding it in and they were attached to the guards!

It doesn't come out easily on the pre-update D2.

The hardest bit is removing the plastic light supports which have to be slid out of the grill. These can be easy or difficult, normally the latter. There is a philips screw into the guard. To get at this you have to remove the guard lining usually.

Sounds more to me like it isn't working properly. The clutch fan shouldn't turn freely with the engine off, there should be considerable drag or resistance.

    X2,
Get the motor nice and hot, turn off the motor and you should feel resistance.
Mine had next to none when I replaced mine.

Just use the grill removal bit, no need to remove the intercooler
I also remove my headlamps when pulling the grill out to give the area a clean.
    Cheers, Kyle

I got as far as removing the blinker and thought how does that screw come out, now I know how it should be easy. Thanks for that link.

Hasnt gotten too hot just going to work and back so shouldnt be too critical at the moment to change the hub, I did one on my VH Commodore before it was nicked.

Not yet, on "to get" list. Will get it before I do rocker cover gaskets as a bit of insurance against breaking something unnecessarily.
