thats what happens when you force water into electronics and then let the engine heat dry them out again.
heres a tip.
dont be an idiot when driving in water.
today after all the rain Brisbane has been having came across a stretch of road covered in water about 100mm deep, hit the accelerator and hit the water hard,
after about 40meters through the water the TD5 cut out and lost all power,
I saw white smoke coming out the back, I pulled over immediately jumped out to smell the smoke.... smelled oily, (it only was there for a moment and it hasnt come back) checked the temp, and the dipstick to see if there was water in the oil, coolant seems to be still at normal level. no blown line from the auto. The TD5 was still idling perfectly; trying to rev it and it gets to around 2200rpm and felt like one piston was cutting out... (Ok this sounds like injector loom right? and there is no water in the air box.) Started to drive home babying it and saying SORRY please forgive me!!!! Half way home it came good and it became a race car once again.....
Has anyone going through water had this happen to them?
or is it just a huge coincidence that the injector loom is playing up right at that time?
This D2 has one serious attitude. or its getting really scared for the up coming trips i have lined up for her!

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
I have had something like that too
Felt to me like the auto was in limp mode, low rev limit, needed to move gear lever to get gears.
Maybe the electrics hanging on the auto don't like being soaked in water?
ECU plugs got wet........quite common if you "go stupid" when entering water, affects manuals as well as auto's, so "doubt" its the auto box.
are you talking about the ECU thats behind the battery? the engine bay was dry when I stopped... though my jack has leaked all the oil out in that area.(found out after having a flat last night)
I have also driven My D2 like it stole it since driving it out of the show room floor and it never had this problem before...
I putting it down to water in the fuel...
I'll go for water on your maf sensor element ,next time this happens just unplug your maf sensor to see. When you drive through water fast water can get sucked in through the air duct which is situated at the top of the arch...
Unlce Bob you are a ledgend, Thats exactly the problem, just ran out side to see if there was water in the air box, the bottom was full of water
I just installed a bullbar and didnt put back the plastic in the wheelarch where the washer bottle is and the air intake isnt that far off that... hopefully it didnt do any damage from sucking in some water...
Spot on Uncle Bob Thanks Again and thanks for all the other supporting posts
No problem ,glad to be of help
