I have taken my car ,TD5, to the dealer yet again for the 3 amegios problem. this time they supplied and fitted at their cost a new rear wheel sensor, because the last one was a really shoddy job.
Again they tested and the 3 amegios came on.
They contacted Land-Rover Australia in Sydney, yet again, and they dont know what to do next.
All the mechanical faults have been done and their advise is now take it to competent auto electrician! OMG here we go again @ $110 ph as per the dealer.
Where is the relay that you speak of? because I now have to have a new power steering pump and a fuel rail fitted. (leaking fuel and oil) over the engine. I now wonder if the fuel and oil leakage may be linked to the 3 amegios and a simple relay electrical problem? Worth a look at least?
I may be clutching at straws :(
Whe
ABS 3 amigos still not fixed by dealer
this is an update of my 3 amigos problems.
To date the vehicle(TD5) has been at the dealer for 2 weeks now, next week will be the 3rd.
Shuttle valve replaced,
rear r/h sensor replaced and wired directly to ecu (one piece of wire).
Tested and still the 3 lights come on.
Land rover Australia contacted with test results of fault codes.
Lots of head scratching and they say take it to an Auto electrician.
End of first week without a vehicle.....
2nd week:
auto electrician test the car all day? and borrows the dealers portable fault code machine. He cannot find any short circuits or anything wrong.
Returns vehicle to dealer....saying it must be the modulator, fit a new one and see what happens?
All this from the dealer and his mechanics.
New ABS modulator ordered (just the front part with the electronics ) and fitted this week.
Tested and still the 3 lights come on. that part cost $1100-
So a test report again sent to Land-Rover Australia , the dealer thinks that there may be another modulator that is not working, but is not sure where it is on the vehicle? (their words not mine).
someone said its under the dash and another said its in the engine compartment?
It seems that Land-Rover do not have the knowledge or know how to repair cars that they manufacture! Sad isn't it?
Week 3: I will update this later :dbcry:
ABS update to TD5 problems
Hi there,
After 4 days the dealer is still waiting for a reply from the Land-rover technical department on the woes of my car.
After fitting the electronic modulator to the ABS unit in the engine bay next to the power steering reservoir, at @over $1100- the lights still came on.
Then assistance sort from land rover tec dept,
The consensus is that the main ABS slab behind the glove box, mounted on the firewall has to now be replaced with a new one!
The mechanic has found the said item and in due course will (when he finds time) access it and try removing the plug and re plugging it in and see what happens,) if the fault codes still come on and all 3 ABS lights too?
This unit part number SRD500070 (genuine land rover) is approx $730 this time.
I still have not had any sort of guarantee that this final replacement will even cure the problem, but they say this is the final part to replace in the system and might be the cure, but.......... no guarantees!
So I am waiting for land rover Australia to advise the dealer of their decision and to press on with the open heart type surgery on my ailing discovery series 2. ;)
parts now replaced
rear ABS hub sensor
shuttle valve to modulator
modulator module electronics
now the ECU main computer slab SRD500070
labour to date over $1100- and ongoing...
total over $3000- and ongoing
so be aware if you own a discovery TD5 series 2 , you have many little surprises in wait for you down the line and that the dealers may not know how to apply the cure?
