    Fairly easy actually ....

Grab a 800mm length of garden hose and use it as a stethoscope

Grab a mate and get them in the drivers seat ... tell them to
Start the car / Handbrake on / Foot on brake / stick it in gear / add some revs (950 rpm)

Stick the stethoscope in your ear and place the other end onto (touch) various parts of the motor to search for the noise ... You will hear all sorts of noises as the hose touches the various parts

    Happy hunting

Well.... when I knew what to look for, it turns out to be the LPG system after all. The little valves along the tops of the cylinder head are ticking like a bitch. See Video.

Any suggestions about how to fix this little niggle....?

Yes they are noisy! Possible fixes: (1) rubber mountings on the little sods. (2) Pink Floyd cd in the stereo, wind it up.

So you mean put some rubber between the little black box things and the tappet cover or.... the mixer condenser thingy?

mr apocalypse/ pedro - in the process of putting the thor manifold on my disco which has a 4.6 in it and injected gas. was initially thinking of tapping into the upper half of the thor manifold like bee utey has but looking at your videos the gas lines from the injectors to the manifold were not conspicuous. are you able to describe where they connect into the thor inlet manifold or have a pic by chance? do you know if there is a discernible difference (torque/economy) between tapping into the upper half which is further from the valves/cylinder than tapping in close by the petrol injector?

    thanks,
    brett.

Some installers apparently fit a spacer plate under the manifold top to get the injectors in. I was warned not to for various reasons. So I ended up passing through the top webs of the manifold. The injector nozzles are actually tapped in right next to the petrol injectors as they should be. The gas injectors are calibrated to run that way and the only noticeable issue is a slightly rougher change-over, as the injector hoses are longer than optimum (they take a moment to fill on first opening near idle).

thanks bee utey - you wouldn't happen to have a photo showing how you've aligned/installed the lpg injectors? i've got my thor manifold now. only took a bit over 7 weeks to turn up. looking forward to getting her back on the road. my disco tdi is a bit slow in comparison and doesn't quite have the exhaust note.

Hehe the diesel isn't quite the same, is it?
Sadly I didn't take any pics of the nozzle install but it should be quite apparent when you look at the complete lower manifold with petrol injectors in place. There's plenty of metal nearby to drill and tap the nozzles. If you post a pic of the lower half I may be able to be more specific. Injector hoses must clear the fuel rail and are about 300mm long. The top half of the manifold was slid over the hoses with each hole in the manifold webs stamped as to cylinder number.
