    D2 Oily Soot

    G'day All,

    Can anyone point me in the direction of where this oily soot comes from?

    Looks like the cam seal cover (that large plastic grommet you can see on front of head) Pull it out, clean and refit with sealant.

    I'd say a slow weep on the camshaft plug. The fan spreads the oil which picks up all the dirt & dust .... a slow process.

    Better yet, just replace the o-ring.

    Thanks guys.

    Sealant applied, soot cleaned away - happy chappy again and glad it was a simple fix (wish they were all like that.
