    Top Gear Mag reviews Disco 2

    Got my subscribed copy of the current Top Gear Mag yesterday, and there, in all its glory, is a 2 page review of the disco 2.
    Nothing really new in it for those of us who know and love them, but some of the pricing offered for some of the repairs seemed "misleading" but would be based on a dealer supply rather than a Landy garage. ($1100.00 supply for the ABS kit, and $4000.00 for the module ).
    Major items ID's were:
    Engine knoks = slipped liners and big $s
    Front prop shaft issues
    Diesel injector issues, with an individual cost for each injector
    Caveats on the cooling system

    Good light reading, but if I didn't know, it might be enough for me not to consider buying.

    Must mean injector harness,as there are very few problems with the injectors themselves.

    Much as I love the show ( well the English version anyway), I really wish they'd stick to reviewing what they are good at. Strikes me from the shows I've seen that none of them know jack **** about 4wd's from how to use them right through to the expected handling and technical aspects.

    IF I were to subscribe to their mag ( which is highly unlikely), I'd just skip anything about 4wd's as frankly, I've seen nothing to show me that they should have an opnion.

    Yeah, you read any article in a car mag/paper and even the current models get the 'reliability issues' tag still!

    To be honest, I dont know anything about the new ones myself, but I would love a D3 or D4 one day and not sure if its a case of 'same old' for these.
    I would have hoped Ford and BMW pumped a bit of $$$ in to help?

    I guess you just need to make the same decision as us - drive something special that may need a little bit (hopefully...) of love and attention, but look what you get! Same year Jap 4x4's looked another 10 years older and even smell cheap and nasty!

    I guess someone has to buy Corolla's etc.

    I have a few vehicles over time, but my D1 at 290,000 and my D2 at 170,000 (both V8's - D1 auto D2 manual owned later since new) are the most reliable I have had and many of my earlier ones were Australian holdens including a VT S since new.
