Hey jb, I have the same unit in my disco, what tool did you use to get it out of the dash? did you just use coat-hanger wire? or did you need a special tool? thanks.

Ok, dont worry about the previous post. Got it out (coat-hangers are wonderfully usefull).
Found only the following connections in the back of it (no other plugs-sockets further down the length of the cables).
I get that the dark yellow and grey plugs are the iso plugs, but there are bright yellow, green, and blue plugs not connected to anything.
Anyone know what they are for???

The two main plugs are DIN std so you just need to buy an adaptor from (insert fav auto shop) to adapt DIN to your new brand of head. The others are lighting/steering wheel/CD changer I think. Mine were plugged in but left out of the new one with no ill effects.
The 3 part blue/yellow/green plug is used for a eurovox CD stacker. The blue section of the plug is for the CD changer and the other end of that cable (under the driver's seat) will be a round style plug.
Oh ok. Thanks for the info people.
There is an iso standard which describes the pin out:
[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_10487"]ISO 10487 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:ISO_connectors_for_head_unit_in_car.JPG" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/63/ISO_connectors_for_head_unit_in_car.JPG/220px-ISO_connectors_for_head_unit_in_car.JPG"@@AMEPARAM @@commons/thumb/6/63/ISO_connectors_for_head_unit_in_car.JPG/220px-ISO_connectors_for_head_unit_in_car.JPG[/ame]
According to the standard the two connectors that are plugged in are Power (Usual colour: Black) and Loudspeaker (Brown) , and the three smaller connectors are External Amp (Yellow), Remote Control (Green), and CD Changer (Blue).
cheers
