gearbox slushy changes???
hey guys,
I did a search and I'm sure I've read something regarding this issue but of course I couldnt find it again!
I had an issue with a battery the other day and have noticed since replacing it, the gearbox shifting under power has changed - for the worse - and now it seems to slur the shifts a bit more than it used to.
I popped it in 'Sports mode' hoping it might be 'a bit confused' and the shifts are better, but still not as firm as before. Probably more like the old normal mode but even a bit sloppier????
I though after a few kays it might 're-train' itself but doesnt seem to be any different.
I did my usual 'give it a hiding for a while and it will sort itself out' and low and behold - its no different!
We changed the gearbox oil only 10000klms ago and this has only just happened after the battery change - coincidence?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
regards
Darian

v8 or TD5?
if its a td5 try a good ''known'' MAF from a mates car and see if there is any differance. a dead MAF will have simmilar effects on the auto's shift quality.
cheers phil

Perhaps...and someone will jump in here and confirm...the transmission ECU is of the "learning" type, and is runing default settings while it "re-learns" your driving style and adjusts its programs accordingly?
It would be unlikely for a battery change to mechanically adjust anything.
As an aside, it's good practice (unless you have a fetish for resetting radio stations and clocks etc), to maintain power via a "keep-a-live" system while changing out a battery.
