    D2 Water pump hose.

I have just spent a frustrating amount of time replacing the water pump hose on my V8 D2.

It was like a life size puzzle to connect each hose in the proper sequence and at the correct angles and be able to get to the clamps.

I also had to contend with not removing the viscous fan. After paying $165 for the hose another $50 for the fan tool was a bit of a stretch this week. I'm sure it would've have saved some time, ah well, maybe next time.

Having some clamps changed to worm drive types did help though, especially for the pump connection which I had to access from underneath after removing the plastic cover.

Next job will be the thermostat and bottom radiator hose, both looked knackered but again the thermostat was $60 and the hose $28, they can wait til pay day I hope.

Ahhh yes, remember that one, I did an oil change at the same time so I had the filter removed whilst trying to get that bloody hose onto the pump, still, plenty of nasty words flew!!!
Glad that one doesn't come about too often, I replaced factory hose clips with clamps too, made it much easier.
    Well done

I use to think my Pajero was a bitch to work on. But I never had the same feeling of dread that I get with the Disco. But I love driving the Disco More than the Mitsu.

Episode VI - A New Cap

As I fix each part of the cooling system another weakness is exposed so it was time to replace the broken and battered overflow cap.

One of the guys at Kotara suggested that the viscous fan may not be working properly, cost new for the hub $275, and an extra $180 for the fan, mine has a cracked and broken blade.

After replacing the cap my current symptom is the gauge will go up to start of the red after a couple of minutes of driving then drop back to the middle for the rest of the trip, I don't know if this is normal.

Now that the hub has been given the kiss of death, should I change it anyway or is there some other gremlin?

Episode Seven - Revenge of the Hub

I have ordered a new hub, fan spanner and belt from Brookwells in UK.

All up it was less than the cost of just the hub here.

After trying to get home from Calga when it boiled on the freeway going to Sydney the only thing left to fix was the hub. We waited for the NRMA and he said was the hub was weak, no other leaks.

Going to work 10 km isnt boiling it so can wait until the parts lob.

Brookwells were very helpful throughout the process.

    Thanks for link ^.

The parts arrived today, it was like an early chrissy present.

The handbrake said she was going to wrap it and put it under the tree, not sure if the motor would have appreciated waiting 3 more weeks.

So now Ive got something to do on Saturday .
