I think the issue Vern is more to do with mud and dust getting into them and wearing the joint - they start to click. This said, I never had shields on them, but talking to Tombie, his 7100's do have rubber boots over the rose joints which may help. Life for me was about 6months, I'm not sure what Tombie or others get out of theirs with the boots.

As to whats most suitable.... for me, rather than running another set of 6100's with 360/80 valving for the front, Heasmans matched me up to the GU/GQ rear Bilstein which was very close in size, rubber bushes and correct valving. I think thats a better way to do it unless you dont mind the rose joints and either you cant match the shock to something else out there or you need short body remote canisters for packaging reasons. You may find in your case that one of the Landcruiser Bilstein products (Bilstein can be run upside down unlike most) or something similar may be a comparable fit to what you're after but with the correct mounts to suit.

Cheers slunnie, currently I run gq/gu , land cruiser combo in mine, but only cheapy shock and want some quality ones. Was happy to go koni raids or whatever they are, but eshocks were of no help unless they came out in a vehicle released in the US, they had no answers for me. I think I will try find an adjustable shock in case I run eas in the future, its just a matter of getting the length right. Hard to say what I end up with, with this car.:(:)

Let me know what the OD of the reservoir is and I'll post the part no. of the bits you'll need. There's the number I listed, SPV is the base type, XXXX is the group & size, PP is the material (there's also a rubber insert unit that may be a better option now I think about it), DP is the cover plate and AS is the bolt type. But there's also a numerical number used, I think it's 51450XXXXX but not entirely sure (been 5 years out of the industry)

If you're after quality shocks I think Koni and Bilstein are where its at, but the actual design of Bilstein is much better, its a performance shock that by design wont fade where Koni's twin shell design can airate. If you can get the lengths in a regular Bilstein you can have them revalved to something different (confirm this with Heasmans/Bilstein Motorsport) but that may be about $100/shock on top which adds up quickly and to a lot of money (then are you better with 6100/7100???). Motorsports are able to generate some pretty good guidance on valve rates and curves based on the vehicle, its use and what you want from it.

If you guys are looking to replace the rose joints with bushes you can get Prothane 19-920 for 1/2" bolt like the RTE kit or Prothane 19-919 for 12mm bolt like std Deefer rear or Disco 2 turrets.

I've got them on mine but they have not been on long enough to judge quality or longitivtiy.

Lucky 8 has better info on LR specific fitments for both Bilstein and other makes of reservoir and non reservoir shocks. And prices aren't that different to e-shocks. So maybe combine Justin's knowledge of fitments with e-shocks valving recommendations.

I've been through 3 sets so far (std, raids and fox reservoirs), sold them all on bar the stds which are back in now. May be going to terrafirma +3's next as they represent great value at about $75- each.

Having both bilstien and koni, I much preferred the koni shocks. Will check out lucky8. Thanks

Sweet as. I'll wait until the rose joints wear and then just stick these in.

Even if they dont last too long they are cheap and easy to change.
