Radio/CD Player (1 Hour) - Wipers Not Working

    New experience

During the week the CD player in the car would not turn on unless I pressed the on/off button on the CD player and when I did it displayed '1 HOUR'. This only normally occurs when you remove the keys from the ignition. Anyhow I thought the CD player was stuffed. Next thing I noticed was the wipers on both the front and back didn't work but the back washer did (water washer). Anyhow went on a search for the fuses (all three and the relay/resister) and found the fuse in the box under the hood had blown. Replaced this and the wipers and front washer are all go. Surprisingly, so was the CD player. Everything back to normal.

This sounds a bit suss but time will tell, potentially there is a short somewhere.

Has anyone had this problem. I'm guessing not.

    Regards
    Andrew

Makes sense, the aux circuits run both the wipers and the radio auto on/off, would have expected separate fuses but there you go. My new VDO Dayton radio has the same function cept I fitted a new fuse for it.

    AUX Relay

    All

    Update

It was the AUX relay under the hood in the fuse box. Dodgy BMW part.

P.S Interesting to see both Ford and BMW relays in the same car. Most have been just when they sold the LR brand.

P.P.S Thanks again Bee utey for the extra help.
