value of uhf radio
G'day all, just wanted to give my recent experience on the value of a radio on a rain effected trip. Just got home from a trip to Karumba, went up the middle, Roma to Longreach and beyond, back via the Gregory hwy. to Clermont and beyond.on the way up, we listened in to truckies, which gave us an idea on conditions, but down the Gregory, the Mines had 4x4's travelling and reporting constantly on the road, to the point of you knew the depth of water over a particular stretch of road , constantly updated. They also signposted danger areas. I felt no need to talk on the radio, but felt a great sense of relief to be kept in the picture. I have to say, my 1999 td5 disco. with 327000 km's on the clock ,was bloody magnificent. Before we left, I had our local independant L/R mob give me a pre-trip check, they also gave me a trip spares kit, and the fellow, seeing my apprehension at what was my first big trip, handed me two stubbie holders, saying " These are all you'll use on your trip" --he was right. Do I love my Disco? Too bloody right!!! Bob10
