but i rolled it back down the hill and tried starting in neutral and drive no go .. so doubt it's the Crank angle sensor...
well im expecting a call today to dive deaper into the already quite shallow wallet .. shoulda called you mike 90 RR to get a tow back to my house as i was litterally 800meters from my place when this happened

I know that wasn't very kind ...still heaps can go wrong and given time it eventually will if you keep it long enough. Having said that if you had brought any other 4x4 of this age then chances are you would be having similar or possibly even worse issues and on top of that they would be **** to drive.
In my limited experience the thing that is rquired to make Landy ownership enjoyable is to find a good local mechanic that knows Landys and is reliable then you are most of the way there to starting to enjoy your Disco.
Your already half way there anyway, because you have joined this website and as you have already found out people on this website are very helpful and have a wealth of information that was often learned the hard way.

Well iv'e found myself a great mechanic .. and just found out it's the fuel pump that has gone .. running intermitantly . so in goes a new one .. oh the joy of it :mad:

Your description of revs but no go sounds just like my TD5 auto when it blew it's trans fluid all over the road. That was the swaged fitting joining a solid to a flex pipe at the trans cooler. I was lucky and apart from fixing the fitting and more fluid, all was ok.
Of course that doesn't explain the inability to start. Dunno abt that.
How did the SLS fail discobaker?
compressor full of water?
overworked compressor?
stake through an airbag?
or the airbag not holding air?
The first is driver error,
the second is lack of maintenance,
the third is just bad luck,
the forth is lack of maintenance, you dont say your tyres failed when their bald. ;)
I was my firs LR,I'd had the disco for only a month if i remember correctly, didn't know a LR mechanic, didn't know the car myself as it was second hand, etc. So i guess Pedro anything was possibly the cause but i'm pretty sure you can rule the stake out or at least i couldn't see any when i pulled the bags out and was running seriously short of funds, its my daily drive and couldn't afford for it to be off the road and was presented with the idea of springs from guys on here, thats the option i chose. All the running gear for the SLS is still there minus the bags so if i decide to go back to bags, i can. So far haven't run into any situations where the coils haven't been up to the challenge so....can't complain.Quote:
