Gezzz really wondering what i have got myself in for here. have had the car just one 3 weeks now and so far have had a service ... then had a full top end rebuild .. . got the car back yesterday , finally taken it for a drive after a week in the shop , and you guessed it more problems
driving up a hill in 2nd gear, the car really started to struggle for power at only 2250RPM .. wouldn't shift down untill finally i gave it a little and it responded .. didn't think much of it maybe a slight blockage in the fuel line . Got home fine and then went out to go to the shops .. made it around the corner and then felt something give way .. the car would rev but wasn't showing signs of moving till it came to a stop .. End of story need i say the car wouldn't kick over after that . any ideas anyone? needless to say it waiting for the mechanic in the morning ..

I've had my 2000 D2 V8 for just on 12 months now, had nothing but problems,SLS failure, replace with coils, water pump hose, head gasket, new motor,3 amigos- abs module replacement, head gasket & top end rebuild & now it's in the shop having the bottom end rebuilt in that order. I haven't had it in my possession for longer than a month without having to do something but I'm not giving up, they're a brilliant bus but when you buy one second hand who knows what sort of care was taken of it prior to your ownership. If you decide to keep it, get it right & maintain it, look after it then it will look after you. The guys n gals on here are a font of useful knowledge, making possible repairs I never thought I'd be capable of doing, step by step instructions WITH PICS!!!

Sorry to hear about your Disco. I'd say keep it.
It sounds as though you're doing some good work on it at the moment, albeit quite major items.
Once you've righted theses problems, chances are that you'll have many years of relative trouble free motoring. I can't agree more with DiscoB.. They are a labour of love.
I've had mine for little over a month and I've had to replace all rotors and pads, remedy a squeaky pulley, fix a blocked and broker oil breather hose and now it's booked in at Land Rover to address leaking engine oil, leaking transmission oil, losing coolant and a clunk in the front end. (hopefully any major items can be claimed under warranty)
Personally, it's all a bit of a pain to remedy these items in what seems like endless maintenance and granted my issues aren't as large as yours or DiscoB, but I'm sure with my mechanical knowledge, the support of this forum and the effort I'm willing to put into making this car right will set me up for many years of happy motoring.

On a more positive note, I can't think of anything better, other than the Metallica concert in Melbourne sat night, than rolling around underneath the truck with my, as of yesterday, 3yr old teaching him the basics like, don't hit something with your bob the builder hammer whilst looking up with your mouth open!!! Lol
Will be interesting when his tools have sidchrome or something written on them instead of Bob!!! Lol![]()

Yeah i rolled around the corner and it just free rev'd like in neutral. once i came to a stop i put it in park and it sounded like something was winding down ... and then the car just wouldn't turn over ... i thought it may have been a belt flug off but checked and it was all there, it cranks but won't start ... something tells me its the fuel pump .. but then why would it free revv.. anyways i'll keep you posted as to what this new problem is ..
well it does make me a little happier hearing im not the only one with troubles.. but it really starting to hit my back pocket hard .. are they really this bad ??
They aren't so bad, once you get them right & unless you've had it from brand new, and yes, new anythings have issues too!!, it may take some time, effort & money to get it to that point.
.... The above can be caused by a cracked flex plate ... (Flywheel) ... or the bolts fell out of the back of the Torque converter
Crank angle sensor at flywheel for ignition spark ... or refer to above
Not really ... Yours just has issues
.... I totally hope I'm waaaay off track .....
