    Rear Sway bar bushes.

    Hi All

I am replacing the sway bar bushed and I am having alot of trouble refitting the new ones.

they seem to be very tight with a 1cm gap in the joint if that makes sense.

I have done a search and everyone just says how easy it is. I was going for a hour and a Half and that was just refitting the new ones. Or trying to.

    Am I missing something?

I am concerned they will be SO tight that the bar (with Ace) will not slide inside the Bush but just rip it the shreds.

Trying to get the truck back on the road by 10:00 in the morning. any tips welcome.

    any tricks?

    Cheers

    Matt

If they don't fit they ain't the right ones... Are the new ones urethane ones? They can sometimes be massaged with an angle grinder. Have done that plenty of times before today. If the bar is bigger than the hole you could either drill through a clamped up bush with a suitable drill bit, or melt the bore out with a heated steel bar.

Mine were tight when I replaced them too, I just put a very small amount of silicone lube spray on the inside of the bush and squeezed them in with the help of a wrecking bar of all things, just make sure the cut in the bush that allows you to put it over the bar itself meet up nicely, I had to wiggle it back & forward alot to achieve this

We have checked the part number and they are the correct part number.

    any other tips?

Make sure the steel bracket that holds them in place is lined up properly, I spend about the same amount of time as you on mine but it took half an hour one side & the other was a PITA!!!
Maybe try loosening the other side to give you a bit more movement & like I said, flat end of a wrecking bar, I bent my large flat screwdriver!!!
    Wasn't happy

    Just do it...

They will fit and you will not destroy the bush in the process.

You just need to get them close and tight as possible. The will be a small gap which could be up to 5mm. Immpossible to remove at this point, no matter how hard you try.

What will occur over the next couple of days is the swaybar will work the bush around until the slack is taken around i.e. no gap.

This worked for me and everything is sweet.
